The Position
The Global Engineering Department is dedicated to providing world-class project execution and technical expertise across all capital investment projects. We are focused on optimizing methodologies, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement to deliver projects efficiently and flexibly, supporting the company's global growth and operational excellence.
The organization is seeking a highly experienced and passionate Global Lead Project Management to optimize capital project design and execution. This central role acts as a critical link for Sites Network and Diagnostics Division engineering functions, defining global project management standards and fostering a worldwide community of excellence.
The Opportunity
Lead optimization initiatives for project execution, maintaining Project Practices Guidelines for Project Governance, Stakeholder Management, and Project phases to ensure adherence to principles across all major projects.
Collaborate with other global disciplines (Project Controls, Project Reviews, Contract and Partner Management) to establish globally applicable, easy-to-understand guidelines, methods, state-of-the-art tools, and metrics for Capital Investment project management to increase consistency and predictability in capital project delivery and ensure best project decision-making processes.
Develop and maintain best-in-industry stakeholder management and project communication framework to secure stakeholder satisfaction.
Serve as the central link between all engineering functions to increase efficiency and flexibility, expand best practices, scale models in project execution.
Develop right-sized project organization and capability standards to optimize project staffing and resource utilization based on project size and complexity.
Drive effectively talent development and deployment across the organization to secure filling of critical project leadership positions.
Define principles for project specification and user requirement definitions to reduce scope changes.
Drive project and process improvements based on Lessons Learned, bringing expertise in structured problem-solving and continuous improvement.
Benchmarking with other companies/industries to advance project management intelligence and the use of data for predictions and simulations.
Who You Are ✨
Academic Background & Experience: University level education (MSc or equivalent or higher) in a scientific or technical field, with at least 15 years in major capital investment projects (e.g., pharma, chemical industries, food & beverage).
Project Leadership: Full proven project management responsibility in at least one major (>CHF100m) capital investment project for production operations plus track record in providing project managers to projects
Proven track record in leading a Project Management Center of Excellence (CoE) responsible for the development and successful deployment of effective, organization-wide global project guidelines
Leadership & Communication: Excellent leadership in a matrix organization, strong and clear communication across all organizational levels, and ability to build lasting relationships with exceptional openness and understanding for other cultures, specifically including those in the USA, China, and Europe.
Mindset: Profound passion for engineering and capital projects content and methodologies, high systematic thinking, ability to self-reflect, and a high sense of and desire for continuous improvement and LEAN principles.
Global Mobility & Language: Ability to travel up to 20% internationally, with professional English proficiency (other languages are helpful).
