About the role
Balfour Beatty are currently looking for a Project Manager (Building Surveyor) to join our Enabling Functions - Property team located in Derby, but will be travelling UK Wide.
Please Note: This role will require the successful applicant to hold a full driving license, due to the travelling involved.
What you'll be doing
As a Project Manager (Building Surveyor) you'll:
- Manage the day to day delivery of capital projects within the UK Permanent Estate, circa 10-20 projects per year with combined values up to £5m
- Draft and issue the brief
- Set up and manage JCT D&B contract
- Coordinate contractor and internal teams for delivery
- Manage the budget, review and advise on variations for approval by the Head of
- Ensure works completed in compliance with safety regulations
- Ensure O&Ms and project information is handed over to the Facilities team
- Undertake dilapidations assessments and negotiate settlements across the estate
- Drive improvements to D&I and sustainability across our estate
Who we're looking for
You'll have/be:
- Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time management skills and strong attention to detail for meticulous review of plans and costs
- Experience of providing support, whilst working in a fast-paced environment to meet targets and deadlines.
- Strong communication, relationship and negotiation skills and a curiosity led approach to delivery
- An understanding of CDM
- Advantageous – ability to use AutoCAD
- APM qualification is advantageous or working towards APM fundamentals (support will be provided)
- Degree or final year of degree with expected 2.1 in building surveying or project management
- Full clean driving licence (UK travel is required).
- Excellent IT skills, confident using Microsoft office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Copilot)
- Excellent team player with the ability to work on own initiative.
- Experience of working in commercial fit out
